The Ilitches established
Olympia Development L.L.C. in 1996 to further business investment
in downtown Detroit. This company was instrumental in negotiating
the side-by-side stadia in downtown Detroit's emerging Urban Entertainment
District for the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. Detroit is one
of the only cities in the country that has side-by-side stadia in
the heart of the urban core. |

The Olympia Entertainment-managed
Fox Theatre first opened its doors in the heyday of the late 1920's.
Completed in 1928, its opulent, extravagant design perfectly reflects
the optimism of the era. Detroit was giddy with the success of its
automobile industry, and also enjoying its position as the country's
fourth largest city. Detroit grew quickly in the 20's, and spectacular
buildings were the order of the day.
In 1987, the Ilitch family purchased and carefully restored the theatre
and its adjoining office building. The Fox has since reclaimed its
glorious reputation as one of the most elegant performing arts and
historical attractions in the world. Detroiters and international
tourists flock to the theatre in record numbers, placing the Fox at
the top of the entertainment industry. The restoration has also sparked
a redevelopment campaign in Detroit's historic Theatre District, attracting
new venues such as Comerica Park and Ford Field as well as new dining
and retail establishments.
As one of the top-grossing theaters of its kind in the world, the
Fox now features popular performances such as Jerry Seinfeld, Robin
Williams, Enrique Iglesias, Macy Gray, Alicia Keys and seasoned pros
of past and present, including Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Stevie
Wonder, Neil Young, and Frank Sinatra. Broadway productions, concerts,
variety shows, family entertainment, comedy shows and classic films,
as well as annual favorites, including The Radio City Christmas Spectacular
starring the Radio City Rockettes, Sesame Street Live!, and Blue's
Clues Live! David Copperfield also grace the grand lady's stage. Visit

Hockey's Hard
Rock Cafe
Olympia Entertainment's newest venture, HOCKEYTOWN CAFE, an
expansive 24,000 square-foot restaurant and bar, pays tribute to Detroit's
greatest hockey players and fans while serving up delicious eclectic-American
food in hockey-hearty portions. Olympia Restaurant Group's Hockeytown
Cafe, is the most innovative, exciting new concept to hit the Midwest
in years.
Occupying a swanky corner spot in Detroit's entertainment district,
Hockeytown Cafe can be seen from miles away. A gigantic outdoor 9x12,
116 ft Times Square-styled video board electrifies the Detroit skyline
as it broadcasts Detroit Red Wings games and other key sporting events.
A radiant sports ticker wraps around the building displaying the latest
sports scores, entertainment events, and information. Inside, mouthwatering
meals accompanied by the coolest icy-cold beverages served in this
neck of the country await eager patrons.
Hockeytown is a masterpiece from top to bottom… The beige, black and
gold specked granite floor is set off by The Walk of Fame. Black granite
tiles engraved with signatures of all-time greatest Detroit Red Wings
are continually added to the Walk, making it Detroit's only ever-changing
tribute to the Red Wings storied franchise. The Ring of Honor, designed
specifically for Hockeytown Cafe by Prop Art Studios, surrounds the
west ceiling of the lobby, showcasing 12 bronze busts of Red Wings
greats, including the five players whose jerseys have been retired.
A Hockeytown Cafe Authentic merchandise store, which lines the south
wall allows passers-by to feast their eyes on the latest Hockeytown
gear.
The Hockeytown Cafe bar is a Detroit landmark, featuring a seven-inch
wide ring of ice, which is cooled by the same coils that preserve
the ice at Joe Louis Arena. Hockeytown Cafe is the third restaurant
of its kind with a bar surrounded by ice (also in Vegas and Miami)
to host such a spectacle! The bar itself, which seats up to 70 patrons,
is 30x10 feet of pure black granite, and will serve a vast array of
drink favorites. Sports fans need not worry about missing any scores,
a ticker continuously runs around the top of the bar with televisions
within the bar overhang.
Hockeytown Cafe, featuring an eclectic American cuisine, is located
at 2301 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan. The restaurant is open
for lunch and dinner. For information, call (313) 965-9500. |

Johnny Rockets:
Olympia Entertainment owners Mike and Marian Ilitch have added a new
and exciting restaurant to Detroit's sports/entertainment district
with the opening of Johnny Rockets in the Foxtown area downtown. The
world-famous 1940's hamburger and malt shop brought its 66th domestic
franchise to Detroit on August 13, 2001, to the corner of Montcalm
and Woodward in the Fox Theatre Office Centre.
Johnny Rockets' first Michigan franchise will feature a limited menu
of all-American favorites made from scratch with top-quality ingredients,
including made-to-order hamburgers, hand-dipped shakes and malts,
American fries, classic sandwiches, flavored soda pop and freshly
baked apple pie. Johnny Rockets is also known for its friendly service,
vintage nickel jukeboxes at every table, and clean-as-a-whistle surroundings.
Since the first Johnny Rockets restaurant opened its doors in 1986
on trendy Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California, the company has
grown to 142 corporate and franchised restaurants in 25 states. Johnny
Rockets' expansion also extends to nine countries around the world
and aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Voyager of the Seas
and Explorer of the Seas. Visit us at www.olympiaentertainment.com

A New Inning in Baseball History
